Four Phases of Disaster Recovery
Looking at Crisis for the Long Haul
Over the next few weeks, the Haiti earthquake will begin to be edged out as "last weeks news." But, the crisis and response will be going on for a long time. Let's look at a Four Phase model of Crisis Response:
Restorative Worship
Thinking about the Lord's presence when that is all there is...
I have been having a chronic prodding going on for the last few weeks. You may know the feeling - a consistent thought keeps banging around out in the backyard of your brain. It has to do with how do we thrive when we have lost everything, and how do we help people in this condition. I learned from some Rwandan refugees in the DRC (to be accurate, I read about them) who found that when they had nothing, they had a lot - worship and prayer....That got me thinking....
Pain along the Journey
Pain is inevitable. Misery is optional...
I think we think too much about avoiding pain, and not enough about expecting it.
Each one of us has unique stories to tell about how we got to today from yesterday. These stories explain who we have been, who we are, and where we are going. Here are some of mine.
